The 22nd of May has become an annual celebration within the bitcoin and crypto community, as it marks the day Laszlo Hanyecz paid 10,000 BTC for two Papa John’s pizzas and first tested bitcoin as a medium of exchange. At the peak of Bitcoin’s price rise in December 2017, 10,000 BTC was equivalent to around a whopping $200,000,000 – the cost of over 14 million Large Papa John’s pizzas, or 112 million slices. Food for thought, hey?
