If academics have anything to do with March Madness, then the Duke Blue Devils take the tournament for the second year in a row. DegreeSearch.org tallied the basketball player grad rates and win rates over the last 6 years and came up with a Student Athlete Score for each school.
The winner?
Duke University. The two highest scoring schools in the tournament were Duke and Kansas. Both have solid teams that have won a lot of games over the past 6 years, but what really pushed both to the forefront is that they have graduated 100% of their players*.
In total, 11 schools deserve mention for maintaining a 100% graduation rate for their basketball players (3 more than 2012, and 6 more than in 2011):
- Duke
- Belmont
- Harvard
- Notre Dame
- Kansas
- Villanova
- Western Kentucky
- Bucknell
- Davidson
- Illinois
- Pacific
