The number of fatal accidents that took place among these increased by 6%.
Since truck drivers often work long hours and are expected to reach a certain destination at a specific time, they force themselves to drive later and work harder. This proves to be detrimental as it causes them to drive while tired, lowering their reaction time and focus. They also fall victim to texting and driving and other distracting activities as it gets lonely on the road. The top four causes of truck accidents are fatigue, distracted driving, alcohol and drug usage, and speeding.
