Many professions have specific requirements about the footwear worn by their workers. While there are special standards and symbols in the U.S., these are quite difficult to understand. There are plenty of work hazards and many different levels of protection offered by different footwear. The hazards involve the danger of slipping, working with heavy objects that might crush the toes, and electrical hazards, to name a few.
